The Chapel of The Dominican Convent is a prominent landmark in the lovely little historic settlement of Yalgoo. The Convent Chapel was built in 1919 for the Dominican Sisters. The convent is constructed of rubble stone and has a tiled roof. It has arched openings and two buttresses at the rear. A large shingled bell tower with a corrugated iron roof is set on stone foundations. The chapel was designed by the well-known priest-architect Father John Hawes who also built the Cathedral of St Francis Xavier in Geraldton. This beautiful historic building can be well appreciated from the outside, though if you were keen to get inside to have a look around, the key is available from the Yalgoo Shire Office during office hours. Take your time to soak up the endearing old world charm of Yalgoo, and whilst you are in the town, ensure you also visit the Court House Museum, the Dominican Chapel of St Hyacinth and Thundarella Station.
